Huawei CEO Richard Yu has been photographed with what appears to be the world’s first tri-foldable smartphone, featuring an innovative dual-hinge mechanism.
This device, captured during a flight, represents a significant leap in mobile technology, potentially reshaping the foldable smartphone market with its unique tri-foldable design.
Huawei, which entered the foldable phone arena in 2019 with the Huawei Mate X, is now rumoured to push further boundaries with this new tri-foldable prototype.
One of the most intriguing features of this smartphone is its dual-hinge design, which allows it to fold both inward and outward, a unique feature not seen in conventional smartphones.
According to Digital Chat Station, a reputable tipster known for accurate leaks in the tech industry, the prototype features an approximately 10-inch display. It is thicker than conventional smartphones, though exact measurements are not provided.
The device also has a single hole on the far left of the screen, consistent with the image of the prototype held by Yu.
The upcoming tri-foldable smartphone will be equipped with a Kirin 9-series chipset.
It is anticipated to be unveiled before the release of the Mate 70, which is slated for Q4 2024.
