In An African Village

I seemed to be at a loss in time
When the sun crawled up and up
Over the green tropical rain forest
And Oh, it was just for a moment
An unforgettable moment in time,
Frozen as it were I heard my heart like a talking drum.
It beat and I heard what was a whisper
From as million, million years ago,
Africans have indeed been blessed,
Really been blessed in all things.
And suddenly I was lost in time looking over
As the trees pointed upward like majestic towers
And I felt, I actually felt what it must have been ages ago
For our ancestors long ago,
When our world was fresh and new.
