He said he would do everything to upgrade the facility built about 60 years ago to boost economic activities of the people.
He described the current state of the market as unhealthy and spoke of the urgent need to build washrooms and improve the drainage system.
Mr. Kumi gave the promise when he interacted with traders and market women there to solicit their votes.
He said he found it quite disheartening the neglect of the market by the city authorities despite the enormous potential to bring in more revenue.
He told the traders that the decision to join the race for the parliamentary seat was to provide him “the opportunity to give back to society”.
Mr Kumi noted that the Sunyani Municipality was lagging behind in terms of development and this was something he was determined to assist address.
Sunyani, the Brong-Ahafo regional capital, he said deserved a modern airport, sports stadium and other recreational facilities.
He said providing households with toilets was his other major priority.
