The Petitioners challenging the declaration of President John Dramani Mahama as President have objected to the composition of Jusitce William Atuguba as a panel member of the Supreme Court hearing the case.
The Supreme Court Thursday morning began hearing of the preliminary joinder motion filed by the National Democratic Congress seeking to join the petition by the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo; his running mate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, and the National Chairman of the NPP, Mr Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, challenging the Electoral Commission?s (EC?s) declaration of President John Mahama as winner of the December 7 presidential poll as a respondent.
The way will then be paved for the court to begin the hearing of the substantive petition filed by the three personalities after considering the application.
But at Thursday?s hearing the petitioners raised the objection and the?case was adjourned sine dine to enable the petitioners file a formal application.
Attendance to the court proceedings on Thursday was strictly by invitation and under very tight security.
The court confiscated all mobile phones and other electronic gadgets until the proceedings ended.
