
ANKARA — As many as 48 Islamic State (IS) terrorists were killed in Al-Bab, in northern Syria, in military operations in the last 24 hours, the Turkish General Staff said on Monday.

CAIRO — At least nine policemen were killed and 13 others, including four civilians, wounded in an attack at a security checkpoint outside a police building in North Sinai city of al-Arish on Monday, a security source told Xinhua.
A suicide bomber detonated a stolen, explosive-laden garbage truck outside the building, the source added, adding that some floors of the structure have been destroyed in the blast. (Egypt-Blast)

ADEN, Yemen — The Saudi-backed Yemeni government forces took full control of a key military base along the Red Sea coast in Taiz province on Monday after four days of fierce battles, an army commander told Xinhua.
“The army units supported by the Saudi-led Arab coalition managed to recapture Omari military base and kicked pro-Houthi forces out from the surrounding areas following fierce fighting and airstrikes,” the local army commander said on condition of anonymity. (Yemen-Civil War)

MOSUL, Iraq — Iraqi security forces on Monday retook control of three neighborhoods in the city of Mosul, as fierce clashes to drive out the Islamic State (IS) militants continued, the Iraqi military said.
In the eastern front, the elite forces of Iraq’s Counter-Terrorism Service (CTS) completely freed the neighborhood of Baladiyat and made a significant progress in the adjacent neighborhood of Sukkar, amid fierce clashes with the extremist militants, a statement by the Iraqi Joint Operations Command said.
