Golden Star Ladies Club has donated fruit drinks and other items to school children at the Kumsunu District Assembly Primary School in the Prestea Huni-Valley District in the Western Region.
Over 170 pupils in the school received fruit drinks, toys, reading books and other learning materials.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the President of the Golden Star Ladies Club in Bogoso and Prestea, Miss Doris Dery, said the school was chosen this year for the donation because it had not benefitted from donations in the past.
She said that the donation was the club’s contribution towards the proper upbringing of children and to put smiles on the face of the children during the Christmas.
Miss Dery said the club was not only interested in the welfare of its members but is also concerned about development of communities and less endowed schools.
She said that the Club, which was formed in 2011, supports health and other needs of women in the mining company’s host communities.
The Assistant Headmaster of the school, Mr. Isaac Gyasi, who received the items, expressed appreciation to the ladies.
