Senator Ganiyu Solomon has faulted the governorship candidate of the Peoples? Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos state, Mr Jimi Agbaje, saying that “the destiny over of 20 million people in the state should not be handed to an amateur in governance like Agbaje.”
The senator representing Lagos West senatorial district at the national assembly further endorsed the candidature of Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Lagos state, calling on the electorate to vote for him in the 11 April governorship election.
Speaking on Monday at an event organized by pensioners of Lagos state government, Solomon one of the governorship aspirants of APC, spoke on the need to sustain the posterity and massive development put in place for the past 15 years by the APC government in Lagos; saying against the background of the global economic downturn, Lagos needs a financial expert like Ambode in order to keep her on the path of excellence.
In his words, ?Lagos would benefit greatly from the 27 years? experience of Mr. Ambode in governance, 13 years of which was in the various local governments of Lagos and the remaining years in the mainstream of the civil service.
?Lagos is not meant for trial and error and the destiny of over 20 million people should not be handed over to an amateur in governance like Mr. Jimi Agbaje and the PDP?s catastrophic misrule and mistreatment of the Nigerian economy should not be allowed here in Lagos.?
The event had in attendance over 1,000 pensioners and their spokesperson also said that they are in total support of Mr. Ambode as the next governor of Lagos State and believe that they see him as having a better deal for them.
Mr. Ambode responding thanked the pensioners and promised his commitment to prompt payment of their pensions and continuity of quality and excellent service to the people of Lagos.
He also praised Senator Solomon for his words of wisdom for the people of Lagos and believes that Lagosians cannot be deceived or hoodwinked by the PDP which has shown their cluelessness in governance and mismanagement of the oil boom.
He promised to deploy the skills and capacity developed over time and by training to continue the massive development of Lagos and to provide opportunity for a large number of the people of Lagos to actualise their potential and fulfill their dreams.
His government, he said ?will provide the enabling environment and engage the masses of our teeming youth in productive enterprise.?
He also thanked other notable people at the event which include Mr. Ambode?s running mate, Dr Oluranti Adegbule, former Minister of state for interior, Demola Seriki, and Former commissioner for Home Affairs, Lanre Balogun amongst others.
