There have been uncertainties about how the President, John Dramani Mahama will be administering the country. Indeed, there are fears that his leadership style, if not critically looked at, would be one of the worse governments ever considering the calibre of persons he would be surrounding himself with.

wpid-john-mahama.jpegIt is however obvious that the Mahama regime would be embarking on a dictatorial rule with theats to law-abiding citizens, bringing back the dark days of a police state that the NDC hopes to use to deflect attention from the electoral scandal it is involved in, which is pending in the Supreme Court of Ghana.

It is not out of place that Kobby Acheampong, ?caretaker? Deputy Minister of Interior in the member of the Mahama government made some ill comments on Metro TV?s ? Good Morning Ghana programme, on Monday 14/1/2013. This comment seeks to destabilize the country by threatening that the President could decree a curfew and the leadership of the NPP arbitrarily arrested.

Kobby Acheampong who had opened the lid on a plot beign hatched by the NDC leadership is being condemned by the members of the public as well as other political parties including the NPP.

According to some political analysts this paper has spoken to, they believed that Ghana is under the rule of law and that the President is not a dictator who rules by decree.

They have also stressed that the president cannot arrest citizens arbitrarily, with the explanation that the people have a right to protection from the state as they express themselves through speech or in demonstrations.

?No amount of intimidation or threats to impose an illegal curfew, arrest the NPP leadership arbitrarily or crush peaceful demonstrations can stop the resolve of the people of Ghana to reverse the grievous scandal of an election that appears to have corrupted the true will of the citizens of Ghana in the 2012 Presidential election,? some said.

However, the NPP is of the view that Ghana is under the rule of law and every government is subject to law and duty bound to protect its citizens and that the vitriolic assertions and threats of arrest of NPP leaders, are but actions to plung the nation into chaos.
