— A court in Zambia has dismissed a petition that was challenging the constitutionality of holding the 2016 presidential elections as well as determining President Edgar Lungu’s tenure of office after the January 20, 2015 presidential election.

The court dismissed the petition, saying the petitioners lacked the merit to bring the matter before the court. Lungu became Zambia’s sixth president after winning the January 2015 presidential election necessitated by the death of President Michael Sata. (DAILY NATION)
