Chief Ralph Uwazuruike
The Regional Director of Movement for Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Ebonyi State, Uchenna Madu, has described the elevation of Chief Ralph Uwazuruike to the position of Eze Igbo Gburugburu 11 as a spiritual exercise devoid of politics.
He said Uwazuruike was most qualified to step into the shoes of the late Ikemba of Nnewi, Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu having sacrificed his life for the emancipation of Ndigbo.
Describing his appointment as a welcome development, Madu, who is also the director of information for the organization, said the MASSOB leader had sacrificed enough for the emancipation of Ndigbo to earn him the new position and used his position and MASSOB to champion Igbo cause in Nigeria.
According to the Afikpo North Regional administrator, “Uwazuruike is non partisan; he is deeply concerned on Igbo emancipation from political, cultural, academic, religious, economical slavery in Nigeria. He is the most favoured, famous and trusted to succeed the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu as Igbo leader.”
He said it was Uwazuruike’s MASSOB that succeeded in re-awakening the consciousness of Ndigbo towards Biafra.
“Because of MASSOB’s agitation, consistency and popularity, Nigeria government appointed an Igboman as inspector general of police (IGP), chief of army staff, comptroller of immigration, FRSC and other top positions.”
Madu said it was because Uwazuruike and MASSOB had the genuine interest of Ndigbo, made enough sacrifice and paid enough prices to pilot the affairs of Ndigbo after Ojukwu that he was appointed to that leadership position of Eze Ndigbo Gbururgburu.
While appreciating the emergence of Chief Ralph Uwazuruike as the new Ezeigbo Gburugburu, which, he noted, was a spiritual exercise not political, Madu pledged the unflinching loyalty of the Afikpo Regional Administration to Uwazuruike’s leadership of Ndigbo.
