A total of 129 terrorists were killed in the province of Cabo Delgado, Mozambique during the current month’s operations carried out by the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), authorities said on Tuesday.
According to data presented by Interior Minister Amad Miquidade during a briefing of the Council of Ministers in Maputo, the terrorists were killed in three FDS operations in several districts and a patrol in Cabo Delgado.
Miquidade said 39 terrorists were killed in an attempt to attack the village of Muidumbe on April 7, which might be the reason behind the massacre on the following day, in which 52 civilians were killed in the village of Xitaxi, district of Muidumbe.
He said FDS troops in Cabo Delgado now have the situation under control and they are preparing for another offensive.
“The situation in Cabo Delgado, at this moment, is under control, which means we have identified where the enemy is, what their bases, camps and movements are. Meanwhile, the FDS are preparing for another offensive,” said the minister. Enditem
