Ghanaian actress Nana Ama McBrown has disclosed her inability to complete secondary education due to unpaid school fees during an interview on TV3’s New Day with Berla Mundi.
The television personality stated she withdrew from Prince of Peace Girls Secondary School in her first year after persistent fee defaults caused overwhelming embarrassment. “I didn’t pay my school fees and I was so ashamed. I felt this isn’t me – I needed to step out,” McBrown recounted.
She described classmates turning to stare whenever teachers entered classrooms, anticipating her dismissal. “Everybody looked at me because they knew I’d be sent home,” she shared.
“At that young age, I couldn’t see beyond the disgrace.” The media personality later enrolled at College of Business Studies solely to deflect social pressure, acknowledging the credential wouldn’t advance her entertainment career. “People kept asking why I wasn’t in school.
I enrolled knowing I wouldn’t need that certificate,” McBrown stated. Her journey from educational setback to media prominence highlights persistent socioeconomic barriers in Ghana’s education system.
