The battle line is gradually being drawn into what is expected to be a keenly contested National Delegates? Congress of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the election of ?new? batch of the National Executives to steer the affairs of the party into the next general election in 2016.
Ever since the party secured a resounding victory in the last general election, various contestants, The Hajj has gathered, have been combing the nooks and crannies of the region, trying to garner support for their bids, ahead of the congress.
Aside the media war and verbal fisticuffs that are expected to greet the front liner executive positions like the positions of the National Chairman, General Secretary, Women?s Organizer, National Propaganda Secretary and Youth Organizer, another keen but exciting competition is expected for the position of the Deputy National Youth Organizer.
What makes this year?s contest for the position of Deputy National Youth Organizer keen as compared to previous contest is the entrant of Mustapha Gbande, a youth activist of the NDC and a close aide of business man, Alfred Agbesi Woyome.
Credible sources within the NDC told The Al-Hajj that, the outspoken and seemingly abrasive young politician stands the perfect chance of grabbing that position due to his excellent communication skills and outstanding grass roots base organization prowess as well as his ability to properly to? bring to life the spirit of camaraderie that use to characterize the youth wing of the ruling party.
With this latest development , it appears the men with tough political mettle are being separated from the boys, following what some party bigwigs described ?a new era to rekindle the kind of enthusiasm that use to be the hallmark of the young wing of the NDC?
?I have heard that Mustapha Gbande will contest for the position of deputy youth organizer; this for me is a good riddance for the NDC, especially at a time when our youth wing is gradually dying slowly? he is the best person to spark the spirit of the comradeship in the youth of our party,? a senior member of the NDC noted.
According to party insiders, the Mustapha Gbande has demonstrated beyond reasonable doubt that, he is a true party person, who can really help consolidate the grass root base of the party in the area of roping in the youth to be part of the forward march of the party.
A leading member of the party with strong financial muscle told this paper ??our youth wing needs a strategist, and not merely a deputy youth organizer to provide strategic and tactical advice to the national youth organizer and the National Executive committee, and that is exactly what I foresee Gbande doing when he is given the chance.?
