Ngige And Umeh Fights Over Scholarship Awards

A bitter war of words has broken out between Senator Chris Ngige and the national chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA) Chief Victor Umeh over the award of three thousand scholarships to indigenes of the Anambra Central senatorial constituency that Ngige represents in the national assembly.

Both political bigwigs of the All progressive Congress(APC) and APGA respectively are sure bet contestants in the 2015 senatorial race in the constituency.
Umeh was quoted as saying the scholarship award by Ngige at this critical time was nothing but ?a Greek gift?.

However, Senator Ngige fired back with almost a similar favor describing Umeh?s comments as coming from someone who is ?morbidly jittery?.

Speaking through his Media Assistant, Mr. Igboeli Arinze, the senator asked Umeh to tell the people how many persons had received scholarship awards or any form of assistance/empowerment from his person to enable them acquire the golden fleece or better their lives, ?despite the millions of Naira, he had acquired as Chairman of APGA?

?It is unfortunate that rather than Chief Victor Umeh commending his political senior in Ngige for doing what no other politician, not even the state government of Anambra has done over the award of scholarships to over 3000 students in both tertiary and secondary school categories, has rather chosen to play puerile politics with it.

?Let me ask Chief Victor Umeh, how many youths has he empowered as Chairman of APGA and as a stakeholder in Anambra State?

This is a man who stood by while his fellow co- traveller in Mr. Peter Obi ran Anambra as one of his chattels; he did nothing when the state government increased tuition fees from twenty thousand Naira to a hundred and thirty thousand Naira. This is sadly a man who brands himself as party chairman of APGA yet looked the other way when ANSU lost accreditation of over 13 courses. Today, because he wants to run for senate and knows that Ngige might be asked to run again, he has thrown caution to the winds and wants to engage in a rofo rofo fight!?

He noted that the scholarship program began many years ago and has continued to expand to accommodate more beneficiaries annually.

He opined that a disconsolate Umeh must be very jittery, with the life-enhancing programme in addition to the big implosion in APGA threatening to wipe off what remains of the one-state party presently.
