Eighteen suspected kidnappers have been nabbed by the police in Nigeria’s central state of Nasarawa, a local police chief said on Sunday.
Three of the suspects sustained gunshot wounds while engaging the security operatives in a gunfight, said Bola Longe, the police chief in Nasarawa.
The suspects were held in connection with different kidnap incidents across the state, Longe said.
He told reporters in Lafia, the state capital, that the police had swung into action to apprehend the suspects after three more victims were kidnapped recently.
The victims, who had since been reunited with their families, were earlier rescued alive, based on credible intelligence. The intelligence reports also led to the arrest of the suspected kidnappers, added the state’s police chief. Enditem
