The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is to investigate the alleged leaked tape linked to its former National Youth Organizer, Anthony Karbo to ascertain its veracity.

Director of Communication for the party, Nana Akomea disclosed this on Asempa FM?s Ekosii Sen programme Monday.

Pressure group, Research and Advocacy Platform (RAP) has accused Anthony Karbo of recruiting mercenaries to disrupt the December general elections.

On the supposed tape, a voice purported to be Karbo?s is heard making references to a meeting with ?macho boys and bad boys who have come in from Libya, Benin and Liberia.

The pro-NDC pressure group who released the tape has therefore called for the immediate arrest of the NPP youth activist to protect the peace and tranquility of Ghana before, during and after the polls.

But Nana Akomea indicated that even though the voice on the tape sounds like Karbo, only scientific investigation could prove its veracity.

Akomea said following his interactions with Karbo, he[Karbo] has vehemently denied ever uttering the words attributed to him on the secret tape.

He said the NPP as a beacon of democracy will not support any member who intends to thwart the peace the country enjoys just for power.

?The NPP will not condone any of its members instigating violence? he added.

The NPP Director of Communication said the party will leave no stone unturned to unravel the mystery behind the tape.

To allay the fears of Ghanaians, Nana Akomea stated emphatically that NPP is not plotting in secret to cause chaos in the December elections.

However, convener of the group, Felix Kwakye Ofosu vouched on the authenticity of the tape and insisted that the voice is Anthony Karbo?s.
