Participants Given Hard-Boiled Eggs During Gh@59 Event In Dormaa

The free distribution of hard- boiled eggs to each participant of the 59th independent day celebration marked the commemoration of the event at Dormaa Ahenkro, the capital of the Dormaa Municipality in the Brong-Ahafo Region.

The event which was used to showcase the area’s rich endowment in poultry farming, saw about twenty (20) students including five females in the Dormaa Municipality being awarded for their excellent performance in the 2015 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), whiles the gallant efforts of hardworking poultry farmers in the area, was also recognized.

These added colour to the usual parade of school children including basic and second cycle institutions, Dormaa Senior High School Cadet.

The ceremony held at the Osagyefo Oseadeyo Agyemang Badu I Sports Stadium in Dormaa Ahenkro on Sunday also attracted some selected members of the security agencies, Heads of Departments and staff of the Dormaa Municipal Assembly.

The 20 award-winning students who received a range of token prizes and certificates, were also hosted to an executive luncheon at the MCE’s residency.

The initiative named “Municipal Chief Executive Special Awards” was instituted some years ago with the goal of motivating and inspiring school children to be disciplined and learn hard.

In his anniversary message, Mr Gordon Kwaku Asubonteng, the Dormaa Municipal Chief Executive, implored school children to eschew negative practices which have a tendency to jeopardise their future.

He advised them to stick to their books, God fearing and be obedient and submissive to the elderly, including parents and teachers.

The MCE called on all and sundry to do away with cynicism have confidence in each other to enable the country develop, adding “the myriad of challenges we find ourselves in all lend credence to our lack of recognition of the many resources at our disposal and the lack of confidence in one another”.

Mr Asubonteng reaffirmed the commitment of the Municipal Security Council towards an incident-free elections in the Municipality, while urging stakeholders and duty-bearers in this year’s election to do same.

Speaking on the nutritional value of eggs, Madam Florence Iddrisah, the Dormaa Municipal Health Director, appealed to people to eat eggs regularly since they contained various vitamins, prevented breast cancer and has the ability to cause weight loss among obese people.

Some of the students who were awarded included Adanua Franklina, Amponsah Ida, Boahen Serwaa Lily, and Owusuaa Amanda all of the Yes Memo Junior High School and Asamoah Mafia Hilda of the Saint Cecilia Junior High School.

Others were Kusi Henneh William; Dormaa Ahenkro Municipal Authority Junior High School, Atakora Mensah Konama , Dormaa Ahenkro Municipal Authority and Kumi Pamela; Yesu Mmo Junior High School.
