Delta State Deputy Governor, Prof. Amos Utuama has joined the Delta 2015 Governorship race just as his expression of interest and normination forms were procured by a group of eminent Deltans, People’s Network for Utuama, Thursday.
The group, in a statement signed by Rev. Fr. Christopher Ekabo, said as patriotic citizens of the State, it could not fold its arms when the fate of the state, post 2015, is at stake, noting that he (Utuama) remains the best choice for the state.
The statement read in part, “In the last 15 years we have all witnessed his immense contributions and the major roles he has played in the administration of the state both as Attorney General / Commissioner for Justice and as the Deputy Governor.
” We believe that Delta State needs a Governor with proven ability to perform and a vision to transform; a Governor who will accelerate to new frontiers the ground breaking works of Chief James Ibori and the developmental strides of Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, CON. Our state needs a Governor who will be able to unite Delta State further and who will respect its diverse interests. Our state needs a Governor who has every corner of the state in his heart and can pursue a broad epicenter of development dynamics that will resound in all areas of the state. We are convinced that Prof Amos Utuama, SAN, fits the bill of the kind of Governor Delta State desires at this moment” .
The group, while paying glowing to the attributes and achievements of Utuama, said it would deliver the Form to him by the weekend and believes that he would heed its call just as the group promise to mobilize Deltans in support of the project.
?Politicians, technocrats, religious leaders, traditional rulers, market women, professionals, youths and ordinary people in the state generally see Prof Utuama as a capable, diligent and attentive person. Indeed, Prof Utuama’s resourcefulness as an administrator and his candor as a person and a politician have endeared him both politicians and ordinary citizens. “
The group urged the state and national leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) to ensure that there is level playing field for all aspirants in the state, just as appealed to Deltans to discountenance the rumour that an individual has been anointed and imposed on the party.
