The former Eagles keeper slumped on Monday

Former Super Eagles goal-keeping legend, Peter Rufai, who slumped in his office on Monday and was hospitalised, is recuperating.

The news of Rufai’s slump was relayed on social media by his friend Kayode Tijani.

The ex-national, who was in a coma when he was admitted at Toki Hospital, off Adeniran Ogunsanya, Surulere, Lagos, is said to be responding to treatment.

Tijani allayed fears on Rufai’s health condition in a tweet, saying, “THANKS so much ALL: Peter Rufai now getting better. Doctors diagnosed nothing unusual. Maybe stress of Mums Death. He can’t talk yet but steady (sic).”

The 49-year-old Rufai was recently bereaved of his mother and has been devastated by the loss.

?He?s been taking the death of our 78-year-old mum badly since last week. We are really praying here for his health,? Tijani had earlier quoted Rufai’s brother as saying.

Rufai played for Nigeria between 1983 and 1998, and started a youth sports development programme following his return home from Europe. He had 65 international caps for the Eagles.
