PFC participates in health walk on AU Day

The management and staff of the Pioneer Food Cannery (PFC) participated in a health walk and fair, organised on Friday, 25th May, 2012 to mark this year’s Africa Union (AU) Day under the theme “Maintaining a Healthy Lifestyle In Unity For Increased Productivity”.

 
The 10.5km-walk, which commenced at the Sakumono Village School Park in the early hours of the morning, took them through selected principal streets of the Tema communities and finally ended at the Tema Sports Stadium.

The Ghana Police Service provided protection as they undertook the exercises amidst brass-band music.

At the Stadium participants were taken through a 45 minutes aerobic routine, followed by health talks on various topics after which the General Manager, Mr. Nichol Elizabeth, addressed the staff on the theme for the Walk.

Doctors and Health Practitioners of the C&J Medicare Hospital conducted the talks on healthy lifestyle and Hypertension, Diabetes, Obesity, HIV/AIDS, Muscular-skeletal problems, Cholesterol and Blood Sugar levels.

They were also taken through HIV/Testing, Blood Pressure, Body-Mass Index, Eye Screening/Refraction and Breast Screening.

The PFC team was led by top personnel including its management: Nichol Elizabeth, General Manager; Jacob Ayin, Head of Operations; Stephan Farineau, Financial Director; Nana Yaw Amaka-Otchere, Acting Head of HR; Kwame Adomako, Head of Docks Operations; and Joao Santos, Project Manager; as well as UNICOF & ICU representatives.
