Plan Ghana 2014Plan Ghana, a child centered non-governmental organization, has called for the promotion of child rights in the country, as part of efforts to build a better world for them.

Mr. Joseph Assan, the Child Protection and Advocacy Specialist of Plan Ghana, said child protection was not only defending them against aggression but also their full range of rights and needs should be respected and fulfilled.

He said the promotion of child rights included giving them good and quality education, healthcare and setting good examples for them to emulate.

Mr.Assan, who was speaking to the GNA on Monday on the sideline of the launch of the Plan Ghana Junior Ambassador’s Project in Accra, said children as future leaders deserved to be treated better.

He said the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child was the most rapidly and widely ratified international human rights treaty in history, which changed the views on children ?as human beings with a distinct set of rights instead of as passive objects of care and charity.

He said the unprecedented acceptance of the Convention clearly showed a wide global commitment to advancing children?s rights.

Mr.Assan said Plan Ghana agreed with the UN and was working hard to ensure that all children were safe.
