The gang- up by political parties to dethrone the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015 has continued to gather momentum with the latest move coming from the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP).

Our correspondent in Lafia the Nasarawa State capital just reported of a meeting between some ANPP stalwarts and the Governor of Nasarawa State Alhaji Tanko Al-Makura, the only Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) governor in the country.

The report said the meeting was part of the ANPP continued sensitization campaign to opposition parties in the country to form a formidable alliance that would give the PDP a run for its money in the next general elections.

Opposition political parties have been boasted that they would form a strong merger that would see PDP out of the presidential villa in 2015 but the ruling party has on several occasions said the so- called merger would not shake its foundation at all.

According to our correspondent, the team that visited Governor Al- Makura today went under the aegis of the ANPP National Rebuilding and Inter party Contact Committee and was led by former governor of Kano state Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau. The former governor contested the 2011 presidential election against President Goodluck Jonathan under the ANPP.

Correspondent told us that Shekarau at the meeting with Al- Makura said the mission of the committee was to reach out to its members at the rural areas as well as meet with members of other political parties to prepare their minds on the planned merger. He was said to have expressed optimism that the merger will work this time around considering the readiness of all parties involved. He also appealed to opposition parties to unite for the progress and development of the country.

Governor Al- Makura was said to have described the visit as timely in view of the fact that all the opposition parties involved have concluded arrangements for the merger. He maintained that unless the opposition parties unite and form a new umbrella with new progressive ideologies, the nation will continue to suffer the problem of lack of good governance and assured the ANPP that his party the CPC is ready to merge with any opposition party for the development of the country.

The visitors to Al- Makura were said to have included three former governors of ANPP extraction from different states of the federation as well as serving ANPP members of the National Assembly
