As he demands equity in the disburse of educational facilities across the country
President and founder of Regent University Collage of Science and Technology, Rev. Prof Emmanuel K. Larbi has descended heavily on Political leaders for failing blatantly to improve the standard of education in various remote villages across the country.
Expressing deep remorse over the sad and demotivating condition pupils of the Adimedim community are currently confronted with, the President resolved that, most leaders in Ghana have lost their charisma of leadership since they prefer being served by the people than to render their services to the people for which they were elected into office.
Rev. Prof Larbi made the submission at a commissioning ceremony of Regent University?s GH?1million worth unit classroom block for the Kyenku – Larbi D/A Junior High School at Adimedim in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
He again cautioned Government to do away with the prevalent rate of discrimination that has characterized the allocation of educational infrastructure and amenities to schools across the country adding that ?it can better be done on the grounds of equity.?
He regretted that, pupils of the Kyenku – Larbi basic school have since not benefitted from the School Feeding Program or the Student Laptops being distributed to other students across the country.
With maximum commitment to confront the challenges Rev. Prof. Larbi promised that, Regent University Collage will construct a local clinic, Vocational Institution and a 3 stored building to accommodate teachers and final year students who seem to be coming from far away to write their Basic Certificate Education Certificate Examination (BECE)
The New Unit Classroom Block consists of 6 classrooms, a Computer Lab with State of the Art Computer Facilities, Water closets,Urinal and a Poly thank for water storage.
Mr. William Anakwa Manteyaw who has been serving as the headmaster of the school for the past nine years was thankful to Rev. Prof Larbi and Regent University Collage for the Kind Gesture.
According to him, the school has suffered zero per cent in the BECE on several occasions but has recorded a major improvement of 75 percent and 95 percent in 2011 and 2012 respectively after the intervention of the university.
He assured that, the students will make an unprecedented mark of 100 percent in the 2013 BECE having had the needed facilities to prepare.
The District Chief Executive Officer Mr. Ofori Darko called on the community to ensure good maintenance of the facility.
He thanked the University for the Edifice as he entreats pupils and natives of the community to emulate the example of Rev. Prof. Larbi should they being that capacity.
800 Exercise books, 60 rulers, 2 boxes of Pens and Pencils including other educational materials were presented to the students.
