Private Universities Student Association of Ghana (PUSAG), is unhappy about government?s neglect of their needs, as far as their studies are concern.

According to PUSAG, some of its needs as not enjoying GETFUND like their colleagues in the public universities.
The Association recounted when on August 6 this year, it petitioned the ruling government to consider the plight of students in private universities and assist them.
PUSAG said, it was unfair for students in public universities to get support from the govevernment while those in the private universities did not get.
PUSAG said ?as we speak, no private university is eligible to benefit from the GETFUND because of the provision in the GETFUND Act?.
They are pleading with the government to make a portion of the GETFUND accessible to private universities in the country because private university students are also Ghanaians? he added.
The Association cited Romania as an example of a country that gives charter status to private universities after five years in existence.
According to them the 2015 budget read in Parliament by the Minister of Finance, Seth Terkper failed to capture PUSAG?s concerns, urging government that, universities alone cannot absorb all the students who seek for university admission in the country, and hence called on the government to take a second look at the way and manner students in the private universities were being treated in the country.
