A 32-year-old driver, George Arhinful, was brutally assaulted by a queen-mother and two others with a machete inflicting serious body injuries on him.
The Queen-Mother of Ampenin, Nana Eduaful I, 46, Miss Beatrice Essuman, 17, daughter of the latter and James Thompson, alias Ekow Fred, are in the grips of the Sekondi police assisting in their investigations.
The Western Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Police Service, told the Ghana News Agency on Thursday that the victim, Arhinful, went to the store of Nana Eduaful on Tuesday November 5, around 22.00 hours and while he was playing with the daughter of the Queen- Mother, he tapped her buttocks.
She said the Queen-Mother became offended and slapped Arhinful but James Thompson, who is a friend to Beatrice?s mother, emerged from nowhere and confronted the victim.
She said this resulted in a brawl between Arhinful and Thompson but were later separated by neighbours.
She said Arhinful left the scene to report the incident to the police but he was attacked 50 metres from the scene of the incident by Thompson with a sharp device suspected to be a cutlass and inflicted several wounds on his back and left arm.
According to the victim, while Thompson was inflicting cutlass wounds on him, the Queen-Mother and her daughter were also hitting him with sticks.
The police said Arhinful had been admitted at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in critical condition.
Thompson is currently in police custody while Nana Eduaful and the daughter had been granted bail.
