Re: Court Clears Way For Housing Project

The attention of the Acquah and Asamani family of Odumase in the Amasaman District has been drawn to a publication in the Daily Graphic of Tuesday, June 11, 2013, headlined ?COURT CLEARS WAY FOR AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROJECT?, and other media outlets under various headlines, concerning a land dispute between Naa Dodi Akaibi II, the Queen mother of Abbeyman family stool and the Nii Odartey family.

The publication was about a ruling by an Accra High Court on an interlocutory case brought before the court by the Queen mother, seeking an injunction on an affordable housing project to be undertaken by Agu Resources Ltd., after securing the land from Adicopa Farms Ltd, led by Mr. Joe Addo-Yobo, the Chief Executive Officer of Adicopa Farms Limited.

The Acquah and Asamani family has observed with much surprise, a misconception being created in some quarters, seeking to create the impression that the said case is the same as a dispute between Adicop Farms Ltd and the Acquah and Asamani family over another tract of land located at Odumase.

We wish to state categorically that,

  • The Acquah and Asamani family is not yet in court over the dispute so there cannot be any ruling in the case.
  • Nsakina is distinctly different from Odumase, with two (2) towns separating them, for which reason they cannot be the same. They are over one (1) mile apart.
  • The family would soon be heading to court to make its case clear on their land dispute.
  • The family has initiated criminal proceedings against Mr. Joe Addo-Yobo over? the unauthorized destruction of some properties on the family land, a case the Police are vigorously investigating.

We would like to remind the general public, especially those who may have dealt with Adicop Farms concerning the Acquah and Asamani family land, that transacting business with Adicopa Farms Ltd over the said land is at the person?s own risk.

Also, any damage to be caused on the land would lead to criminal proceedings against the perpetrators.

We would also like to draw the attention of the national security apparatus to the presence of some persons who are creating fear among legitimate residents of the area.

It is worth stating that, the land was leased to Adicop Farms Ltd purposely for pineapple farming under an agreement dated September 11, 1987; so any attempt at doing contrary to the tenets of the agreement could only amount to short-changing or taking advantage of the family.

We would not relent in our efforts at ensuring that the legitimate thing is done in this issue.

Thank you

Signed
