Cobbinah makes wild allegations against unnamed Ghana FA official
Referee Franklin Cobbinah claims he was handed a ban after refusing a request by a top Ghana FA official to rob a game.
The Accra-based referee was handed a one-year ban after the Ghana FA?s Match Review panel declared his performance in a Division One match between Guan United and Bechem United as questionable.
Cobbinah was accused of denying four clear penalty kicks to Guan United in the match they eventually lost by a lone goal.
But the referee who is almost done serving his ban says he was punished for doing the right thing.
?Up until now I have the voice on my phone of an FA official asking me to manipulate a game,? he revealed.
?I refused to cheat and they banned me for it. I only heard of my ban on radio.
?At the appropriate time I am sure this proof will come in handy.?
Cobbinah?s comments is likely to attract another action by the Ghana FA?s Ethics Committee.
He would be asked to provide the evidence he claims he has against the unnamed Ghana FA official for further actions.
