In Brazzaville, long queues of vehicles waiting for fuel at service stations were visible on Monday. “It is now two days that I have been waiting in vain for fuel at a petrol station,” said Claude Mountou, a 41 year old taxi driver.

Due to the fuel shortage, taxi rates have also shot up.
Residents of the country’s economic capital, Pointe Noire, said the situation is the same and most of them are forced to get oil from neighbouring Angolan province of Cabinda.
No explanation has so far been given by the authorities for the fuel shortage.
Republic of Congo is an oil producer and according to official figures, the country is expected to produce over 103 million barrels of oil this year, more than the 95 million barrels produced last year.
