Residents of Kakasunanka cry over bad road network

Residents of Kakasunanka and its environs in the Kpone- Katamanso District have bemoaned the bad nature of their roads and appealed to government to repair them.

According to them, roads in the area are full of potholes with rough surfaces as stones used to base the roads are showing due to erosion and neglect over the years .

Some of the residents told the Ghana News Agency that drivers especially, commercial ones often try to dodge the numerous potholes on the road, putting the lives of pedestrians and passengers in danger.

They also complained about the muddy and slippery nature of the roads whenever it rained, which they stated made it difficult for them to move freely to their destinations.

According to some traders selling by the roadside, the dust from the road poses some health problems for them.

Aunty Ama Pokuaa, a fruit seller, said her wares always become dirty and she has to wash them several times before she could attract buyers.

She also lamented that they inhale the dust leading to most of them getting respiratory problems especially flu.

Mr. Gilbert Dickson, a driver, told the GNA that due to the bad nature of the roads, it was difficult to rush sick people to the hospital on time during emergencies .

He also indicated that they cause long vehicular queues as drivers have to drive with extra caution including the dodging of potholes to avoid accidents.

His colleague drivers called on politicians and the Kpone-Katamanso District Assembly (KKDA) o fulfil numerous promises made to fix the roads in the area.

They asked the assembly to properly construct the roads instead of only filling of potholes since the filling materials always washed off whenever it rained.
