Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie urged people in a Facebook post Monday to stop publicising their plans, warning that premature announcements invite unnecessary doubt and jealousy before an idea takes shape.
“Stop telling everybody your damn plans,” he wrote. “Every idea don’t need an announcement. Every move don’t need a conversation. Every dream don’t need a committee.”
The rapper said constantly announcing intentions before they materialise can leave a person looking foolish and hand critics a chance to pick apart unfinished work. “You keep telling people, ‘I’m about to do this… I’m finna start that… watch what I’m about to do…’ Then nothing happens. Now you looking crazy, and on top of that, you done gave everybody a chance to throw their doubt, jealousy, opinions, and negative energy all over something that wasn’t even built yet,” he wrote.
Sarkodie also cautioned that not everyone who hears about a person’s ambitions wants to see them succeed. “Some people don’t want to see you win. Some people will laugh in your face and secretly hope it never works,” he said.
He urged people to prioritise execution over discussion. “Shut up and work. Move in silence. Make the calls. Build the business. Start the project. Make the money. Change your life,” he wrote, adding that achievements should introduce a person’s plans rather than a preview of them. “You don’t owe anybody a preview of what God put in your spirit,” he said.
The message continues a recent pattern of candid reflections from the rapper. In July, he posted on X that “if you want people to leave you alone, stay broke,” a line that split opinion online, with some reading it as a comment on the social cost of success.
“Results speak louder than plans ever will,” he added.
