At least seven army soldiers were wounded by the explosion of a landmine in Cameroon’s Far North region Tuesday afternoon, according to local media.
Local media reported that the soldiers were hit while a military patrol was on an operational mission in Soureram, a village in Fotokol subdivision of the region. All wounded soldiers were transferred to a local hospital to receive necessary medical care.
Dozens of security troops and civilians have been targeted, by direct attacks, landmine blasts or ambushes in Fotokol since terror group Boko Haram launched attacks in the Far North in 2014, according to security reports.
Early Tuesday, local authorities said at least five Boko Haram militants and two members of government forces were killed Monday night after the terror group attempted to take control of Soueram locality. Enditem
