WARRI—FORMER Labour Party, LP, candidate for Warri North constituency in Delta State House of Assembly during the 2011 general elections, Mr Adanse Felix, has appealed to the chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof. Attahiru Jega, to split Warri North Local Government Area into two state constituencies along the tribal lines of Ijaw and Itsekiri before 2015 general elections.
Felix said the split was important so that the oppressed and marginalized Egbema-Ijaw could equally vote and be voted for in elections.
He said: “I want to sincerely appeal to INEC to consider the request for the splitting of Warri North council into two state constituencies along the two tribes of Ijaw and Itsekiri before 2015 general elections. The splitting is very vital for peace to reign in the area. A situation where only the Itsekiri are representing the area in all elections can never be accepted any longer.”
