spyGhana: Gay marriage – Matters arising

0

Recent declaration by Pres.Obama has led to various discussions by pundits on the way forward for Ghana as a state which barely survives on its own without grants and loans.

I stand to join in this discussion and readily opened to criticism where necessary.I am Christian but open minded to societal issues and in no way a homosexual .
Morality as it may seem influence the society and controlling it helps perfect a society. The point that need not be overlooked is what should decide the morals among the populace.Well, you cant justify religion to be the source of authority. It is for this very reason why our law courts rule based on the collectively laws ascribed by the constitution. So saying homosexuality is wrong based on the Bilble,Quaran or Torah is wrong and subjective.I do not in way stand against the faith and belief of people but to extend ones faith to others is quiet hypocritical. Not everyone is ruled by such authority not forgetting the atheist among the society.Hence, the silent nature of our constitution on homosexuality makes it an act that need not be criticized. In short, the country should not leave what is wrong or right to religion but rather it should be left for the constitution to decide.

With our current growth in development,it is pointless to waste precious resources on such issue. My three years undergrad study in psychology has taught me that homosexuals are sane, healthy and should be seen as such in the society. This act is basically a choice and can stopped willingly although it is determined by social, biological and psychological factors. With a public debt of 67.5% of our $3,256.848 GDP,gay marriage should be the last thing we should be discussing.Face it,what role does two healthy people sleeping with their same sex play in nation building? It is not like it is an overt act that can deteriorate the moral standard of kids.It is untenable to declare a stands on this act only to have a cut in funds from the west.

Gay marriage takes a new trend on the infection that come with it.Well, no one prevents sexual intercourse for the reason that STDs are easily spread by it. Measures should be put in place to control where and how it is done for those interested. No matter the stigmatization, people will still engage in this act for the simple reason that it does not affect anybody. You don’t go someone’s bedroom and tell them not to have sex with somebody even with his consent.I will rest my point here and be sure I will come back as matters unfold
