Tigo Ghana has presented smartphones and one-year fully connected modems to graduating cadet officers of Ghana Military Academy at the Military Academy and Training Schools (MATS) in Accra.
At a ceremony, the Mobile Network Operator handed over the items worth GH? 19,500 and a cheque for GH? 10,000 as their contribution to deepening the relations with Ghana Military Academy (GMA) and Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).
It would also enable the cadet officers stay digitally connected with their friends and family and aid in their research activities.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Military High Command, Commandant MATS and Commander GMA, Chief of the Defence Staff, Vice Admiral Matthew Quashie, expressed appreciation to Tigo for the support.
He said he is hopeful for more of such collaborations and emphasised that GAF is particularly interested in developing and building relations with Corporate Ghana and encouraged others to partner GAF.
He said such gestures would deepen civil-military relations.
Present at the ceremony were the Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral GM Biekro; Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshall Samson-Oje; Commandant, MATS, Rear Admiral EA Bonsu; Deputy Commandant, MATS, Brig Gen EMK Yeboah; Commander GMA, Brig Gen M Akpastu; senior officers and management members from Tigo.
