“To prevent incidents of multiple voting, CENI has purchased indelible ink for each of the 8,994 polling stations,” CENI president Taffa Tabiou said when he briefed the media in Lome on the commission’s preparedness.
He said the government had sought and obtained support from the International Organization of the Francophonie for the consolidation of the electoral register between March 14 to April 8, 2015.
According to the electoral register which has been accepted by CENI, a total of 3.5 million voters have been registered.
With regards to the mode of transmitting results, CENI president said the electoral code stipulates that the results should be transmitted after tallying of votes.
He said the provisional results from each polling station will first be transmitted to the officer in charge of the Local Independent Electoral Commission (CELI), and the final copy will be securely sent to CENI headquarters.
CELI will publish the results within two days after the elections, while CENI will tally the results from across the country and announce the provisional results at most six days after the elections. Enditem
