He said on July 8, at about 1030 hours, the complainant received a phone call from a friend that Eric had given the taxi to a spare driver some days ago, and the where about of the spare driver was unknown.

He told the court that the complainant after receiving the call went to the Kotobabi Police Station and lodged a complaint and Eric was apprehended.

After the complainant left the police station, he called the police station again to inform the police that he had spotted the spare driver with two policemen at Alajo.

The prosecution said when Sampson was questioned about the taxi, he told the complainant that the taxi was allegedly snatched from him by armed robbers at Dansoman, and that, he had reported the case to the Dansoman Police.

Police Chief Inspector Agbemehia said a thorough investigation by the Divisional Commander at Dansoman Police Station revealed that Sampson, could not give any tangible explanation, thus he was arrested and detained on suspicion.
