Alhough titleholders Patidar Samaj were not in action, the Multiple Industries-sponsored cricket league got underway with intriguing action.

Shree Kutch Leva Patel Samaj (SKLPS) beat fellow promoted side Challengers CC by 28 runs at Lugogo on Sunday. After winning the toss, Challengers elected to bowl and SKLPS were all out for 145.

Challengers bowler Daniel Ruyange, who missed out on the recent UAE ICC T20 qualifiers, took 3/39 while Mohammed Shafeek hauled 4/16. The latter then picked the bat and notched 30 runs in the second innings.

SKLPS’ Vekaria Kanti took the man of the match honour after making 15 runs and bowling 5/22.

In the lately configured division two, Tornado B did a double over Mwiri CC at Kyambogo oval.

Mwiri won the morning and afternoon tosses, choosing to bowl but they could not chase the ponderous targets their opponents had set, losing by two and seven runs respectively.

The Jinja contest between Jinja Indians (JICC) and Jinja Association (JACC) saw the latter lose the morning tie by five wickets.

JACC bounced back and won the afternoon game by two wickets. Elsewhere, Africa Cricket Club and Tamil Lions shared spoils as each won a game from their double header in Entebbe.
