On?October 16, which marks the United Nations WORLD FOOD DAY, Chefs for Change together with HiGrade media consult, will hold the ?Feast of Hope?, where about 3000 people, including street children, orphanages,??the mentally challenged and the aged who have been socially abandoned to mark the day.

Recent statistics show that 1.3 billion tons of food is wasted around the world every year?and over?a million?children die every year from hunger. 50% of Ghanaians do not have enough to eat?and over?45% of food is wasted in Ghana. Majority of Ghanaians have developed consumption lifestyles that they cook more food than they can eat and throw the left- over?s into dustbins. The wasted food end up at land-fields and turns into methane, a green-house gas that is 25 times more potent than the carbon monoxide from vehicles? exhaust, which emits into the atmosphere and negatively impact on the environment. Reducing domestic food waste would bring down green-house gas that unnecessarily emits into the atmosphere and negatively impact on the environment. On national front a lot of foodstuffs are lost during bumper harvest due to inadequate storage facilities and poor transportation network.

The day will see the team together with all volunteers float through some principal streets of Accra, particularly closer to areas populated by our targets to?FEED AND INSPIRE?them. The float will commence and end at the freedom and Justice Park. Special teams will also be dispatched to the Accra Psychiatric Hospital, Osu Children?s home and some other selected similar outlets to give them their share of the food and inspiration. The float will also be used to educate the general public about the facts of?FOOD WASTAGE AND HUNGER?in the country, to at least reduce the canker killing our societies.

This day is set to be a remarkable day in the books of Chefs for Change Ghana Foundation/Hi Grade Media Consult and The World Food day Program, since we believe such activities are a direct representation of what the world food day is all about, and our doors are opened for volunteers and supporters who share a similar passion to come in and support this very worthy course.?Thanks to our official meal sponsors: Finatrade foundation with Rice masters, Sadia , Mr. Snacky .
