
The Nigerian Army on Sunday says it is poised to enlarge its frontiers in the area of transformation and public confidence building.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Chief of Civil-Military Affairs in the Nigerian Army, Major General Bolaji Koleoso in Abuja.
Koleoso said that the department was organising a one week-long Civil-Military Affairs interactions to discuss and suggest ways to improve the public confidence in the security agencies.
He said that various resource persons would deliver papers on different topics to address the issues involved.
“At the end of the programme, there would have been suggestions on how to transform and build the public confidence in the Nigerian Army,?? he said.
According to the statement, the seminar will hold at the 2 Division Auditorium, Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment, Ojoo, Ibadan from October 21 to 25.
The Chairman of ThisDay Newspaper, Nduka Obaigbena, according to the statement will be one of the resource persons.
The statement said that the paper to be delivered by Obaigbena is titled: “Consolidating Civil-Military Relations for Improved National Security?.
Other papers to be delivered at the seminar are “Capacity Building for effective civil-military relations: the role of civil society organisations?? to be delivered by Dr Lanre Adebayo.
Retired Maj.- Gen. M.A. Efeovbokhan will also deliver a paper on “Cordial civil-military relations as a tool of safeguarding human rights?? and “Early preparation for retirement: Challenges and Prospects??.
The statement said that Dr Jibril Ibrahim of the Centre for Democracy and Development would also share from his wealth of experience.
The Oyo State Governor, Sen. Abiola Ajimobi, is expected as the guest of honour, while heads of both government and private media houses are to be special guests at the seminar.
