-Party Treasurer fights Kwabena for authority
-Afoko called to instill discipline in members

The seeming feud between the 2016 flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo and the party?s National Chairman and General Secretary, Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong, will not to end anytime soon.
Inside sources familiar with the wrangling in the elephant family has told the Accra Times that the coming days are crucial for the party as members of Nana Akufo-Addo?s camp are plotting to heighten the feud in order to sideline Mr. Afoko and Agyepong and get hold of the party?s finances, especially, funds for the 2016 campaign.
The National Chairman and the General Secretary have since the party?s National Delegates Congress been a stumbling block for cohorts of Nana Akufo-Addo as all attempts to take control of the party?s finances have proved futile.
Their machinations through the party?s treasurer, Kwabena Abankwa have so far yielded no fruits.
Some few months ago, when the National Chairman and the General Secretary decided for the first time to send monies directly to constituency executives to organize the party?s parliamentary primaries, their move was strongly objected to and criticized by associates of Nana Akufo-Addo because those monies did not pass through them.
The Accra Times can authoritatively report that till date a whooping amount of GH?6.7million banker?s draft generated from the party?s recently held parliamentary primaries has still not been accounted for by the treasurer.
Just last Saturday, evidence of the feud between the two factions became clear when two documents were leaked from the offices of Kwabena Agyepong and Mr. Abankwa opposing each other?s authority on a particular contract the party wants to enter into.
A memo issued by the General Secretary dated July 31, 2015 and addressed to Regional Chairmen, Regional Secretaries, Constituency Chairmen and Secretaries and copied the National Chairman, Members and the National Steering Committee in part read ?This is to inform you that, following the recommendation of the National Finance Committee, PAYMENEX LIMITED has been appointed to conduct the Party Membership Card Issuance Exercise. Officials of the Company, or their Agents, will be contacting you in connection with the Exercise.?
Another memo on the same subject issued by the National Treasurer, Abankwa Yeboah dated August 1, 2015 and addressed to the Regional Chairmen, Regional Secretaries, Regional Treasures, Constituency Chairmen, Secretaries and Treasurers also in part read ?This is to bring to your notice that the National Executive Committee of the party has not approved PAYMENEX as the company responsible for the issuance of Party Membership Card and collection of party dues.?
These among others, have left many wondering who actually is in control of the NPP that is seeking to challenge the formidable ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2016 elections.
Accra Times is reliably informed that Mr. Abankwa has secretly entered into a contract with a company called TEC GENYSIS to undertake the issuance of the party?s Membership Card where he is expected to benefit and so is hell bent on kicking out PAYMENEX from the picture.
Many have now turned to the party National Chairman,Treasurer, Abankwa Yeboah to intervene and stamp his authority to bring the internal wrangling in the elephant family to a halt since the constitution of the party gives him that powers as a leader.
?The indiscipline is becoming too much in the party. When is Chairman Afoko going to stamp his authority and end this nonsense? Just this Talensi by-election, so much money went into it but they are not being accounted for. Why?? a party stalwart who did not want her name mentioned told this paper.
According to the source, some of the national officers have in a secret meeting planned to ensure that funds for the 2016 campaign are used for their personal project.
