Some communities in Katsina State have benefited from the World Bank-assisted projects

A total of 19 communities have so far benefited from the N55 million disbursed by the World Bank under the Community and Social Development Project (CSDP).
The Project Manager, Alhaji Salisu Yar’Adua, on Friday, said that the money was disbursed for development of infrastructure in the participating local government areas.
Yar’Adua said that the benefiting communities contributed 10 percent of the total cost of a social development project, while the World Bank provided the remaining 90 percent.
He said participation is still open, as there is no limit on the number of communities that may apply for the development programme, urging communities that have not yet applied to do so in order to benefit from the scheme.
He explained that the project will assist in developing the rural areas, thereby improving socio-economic activities in the state.
Yar’Adua urged the benefiting communities to ensure utilisation of the funds on social services that will improve the living condition of their people in rural areas.
