ZENITH bank on Saturday said it would remain committed to the development and growth of Ghana as well as the financial industry through enhanced service delivery.

Henry Onwuzurigbo, the bank’s Managing Director, stated this at its 19 years anniversary flag hoisting in Accra.

Mr Onwuzurigbo said the bank, a long-standing institution, had impacted the nation and the world through various financial products and services.

“From that very modest beginning 19 years ago, Zenith Bank has traversed an incredible journey of delivering impeccable financial services to its customers and supporting the building of the modern-day Ghana and indeed, West Africa, including our early pivotal role as the monetary and fiscal policy regulator for the entire West African region,” he said.

The event, dubbed “19 Years of Innovation and Excellence” brought together board members, management, staff, customers, and friends of the bank.

Participants walked from the bank’s head office through Trade Fair, Circle, and back, completing the route in just over two hours across the streets of Accra.

The Managing Director of Zenith Bank Ghana, added: “Health is wealth, that is a common phrase everywhere and a lot of people do sedentary work.

“We always seat down and rarely exercise ourselves. We had to shut down our elevator for one week to prepare our staffs for this walk. At times we think we are healthy but blood is clotting somewhere without you exercising yourself.”

He said the bank was now building for the next 19 years and beyond and would continue to maintain its leadership position.

The chief executive officer said that hoisting of the flag symbolises the identity, impact, permanence and reverence of an institution.

He said the bank was among the few companies in the world that survived over 100 years of existence.

Also speaking, Ambassador Dayo Adeoye Acting high commissioner Nigeria, lauded the bank for its achievement in the development of the financial sector in Ghana as a whole.

Ambassador Adeoye said integrity was very important in the banking industry, adding that Zenith Bank had remained a major player both in human capital development and financial service delivery.
