Students of Achimota Senior High School (SHS) are living in absolute fear at what many of them described as the ?uncaring? attitude by the school authority towards difficulties students face that have to do with their health.
The school authority headed by the Headmistress, Akora Beatrice Tsotso Adom have allegedly decided to sack students who complaint of any form of ailments from the school.
Interestingly, ?ADANSI?? can authoritatively say that a student of the school, (name withheld) has been Deboardinized. Her offense was that she is a Sickle cell patient.
The situation, even though has been a worry to students of the school, the Headmistress, Akora Beatrice Tsotso Adom, according to sources finds pleasure in making life difficult to students who made it through the hard way into the school.
This development will further worsen the plight of the said student as Doctor?s report on her indicates that her condition can deteriorate if she is made to travel long distance of about 3.5kilometers to and from school.
Information gathered on the issue, is that the parents of the affected student have always been paying for their ward?s boarding fee and receipts given to that effect, but unfortunately the child was one day asked to bring her parents only to be told that their child has been de-boardinized because of her condition.
Speaking to some medical doctors on Sickle Cell, they noted that the condition of the student is non-communicable and that de-boardinizing her was totally out of place.
The doctors also said, the student is bound to face serious challenges during this rainy season and called for the school authorities to rescind their decisions.
The parents are however calling on the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Minister of Education to intervene to save their ward.
The headmistress of Achimota School has been involved in several of such actions which handed the school in legal suits brought against it by parents of affected students.
Parents whose children face some form of inhumane treatment in the hands of the Headmistress are also calling on the Ghana Education Service to intervene in making sure that students in the school are treated fairly.
However, attempts to contact the headmistress proved futile.
