Experienced coach Sellas Tetteh has been strongly linked with a move to Kotoko
By Patrick Akoto
Asante Kotoko have rubbished reports they’re in talks with coach Sellas Tetteh for the coaching job at the club.
Officials of the Kumasi-based club are desperately searching for a substantive coach to succeed Maxwell Konadu who will quit after supervising an impending two important assignments.
It has been widely claimed in the local media that the Ghanaian Champions have contacted the ex-Rwanda National team boss for a possible stint with the club.
But Kotoko officials have flatly denied the reports claiming they are well wide off the mark.
“We have not contacted Sellas Tetteh for the coaching job at the club,” Public and Supporter Relations Manager of the club Listowell Yesu Bukarson said.
“We have talked to some coaches in that regard but Tetteh is not one of them,”
There are fears the vacuum that would be created by the exit of the former All Stars trainer could jeopardize their preparations for next season’s Caf Champions League.
A number of names have been floated as potential successors to take over the coaching reigns of the club.
But there are others who believe Tetteh has the credentials to lead Kotoko.
He was assistant coach for Ghana at the 2006 Fifa World Cup finals and named stop-gap coach in 2008.
He guided the country’s Under-20 team to win Africa’s first ever gold at the 2009 Fifa Under-20 World Cup in Egypt.
