Information gathered is that, Lawyers for Manhyia North MP Collins Owusu Amankwah and the New Patriotic Party’s Secretary in that constituency, Felix Ibrahim, have written to the court expressing their wish to drop all charges of assault they leveled against their regional chairman.

However, Lawyers for Mr Boasiako, led by Mr Egbert Faibille Jr., welcomed the turn of events and prayed the court to grant their client bail and also consider a request by the complainants in the case for an out-of-court settlement.
The court acceded to Mr Faibille Jr.’s prayer. He is to reappear in court on June 1.
Chairman Wontumi was arrested Tuesday May 3, 2016 and arraigned before court Wednesday by the regional Police Command and charged with assault of a public officer as stated in Section 205 of the Criminal Offences Act – 1960 (Act 29).
The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Police arrested Mr Boasiako after he turned himself in on Tuesday. His arrest came with heavy protest as hundreds of NPP supporters later besieged the Central Police Station in Kumasi where he was taken, demanding his release.
