The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), AIM- Ghana, an NG0 and 3-D Multimedia with the support of the Consolidated Bank Ghana(CBG), have distributed thousands of nose masks to school children.

It said the masks were donated to school children in Odorkor, Kwashiman Cluster of Schools, and Abeka Cluster of Schools, Accra, and Denkyembuor District of the Eastern Region.

A statement signed by Mr Affail Monney, President of the GJA, copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, said the donation was done under the Mask Up, a Child Campaign.

It said it was jointly undertaken by the three organisations with a target of distributing one million nose masks to school children in deprived communities across the country.

The statement said the campaign was launched by Sheikh Dr Nuhu Sharabutu, National Chief Imam, after receiving a quantity of the nose masks at his Palace at Fadama, on behalf of the beneficiaries.

The Chief Imam asked all Ghanaians to strictly obey the safety protocols until the country was officially declared free of the pandemic.

He commended the strides made so far by the Government and the health authorities in containing the pandemic and putting the economy back on track, adding that, “nothing, absolutely nothing must be done to undermine this positive trend.”

Mr Affail Monney said: ”There should be no lull in the fight nor room for complacency, in terms of media education, sensitisation, and monitoring of adherence to the COVID- 19 safety protocols.”

According to the statement, the impact of the pandemic has been hefty to be toyed with and should reflect in aggressive media response until the pandemic was consigned to the dustbin of history

Mr Monney expressed gratitude to CBG for its exceptional corporate social responsibility and modelling the way for other corporate bodies in the crucial national cause.

Madam Gladys Biney, the CEO of AIM- Ghana, led the team to distribute the masks to children.
