The money will be used to cushion the effect of flood on parts of Bayelsa

The Bayelsa State governor, Seriake Dickson, has signed the N1.5 billion supplementary appropriation bill into law.
The bill was passed by the state House of Assembly to enable the government to meet the emerging challenges posed by the recent floods which ravaged some local government areas in the state.
Signing the bill into law, Dickson bemoaned the devastating effects of the flood on the people of the state.
“By signing the bill into law, the government will swing into action and provide succour for the victims,” he said.
The governor said that the money would be useful in the government?s efforts to address the immediate needs of flood victims.
Speaking before the bill?s presentation for the governor?s assent, Kombowei Benson, the Speaker of the state Assembly, said that the House passed the bill two days after its receipt.
He said that the prompt passage of the bill was to enable the government to cushion the effects of the flood on the victims.
