The Central Regional Police Command together with the management of the Ankaful Psychiatric Nurses Training College are seriously investigating how 38 students managed to pay their fees into the college?s account when they have not been given any admission letters. Eight out of the 38 students who were arrested by the Central Regional Police Command have been granted self-bail.

wpid-police.jpgThe Principal of the college, Grace Aba Inkoom, disclosed these in an interview with the media on Thursday at Cape Coast.

According to her, the students reported at the campus on August 23, 2014 for the 2014/2015 academic year where she conducted an admission audit at the campus.

Madam Inkoom hinted that she observed that some of the students were not present at the admission audit ceremony, a situation which compelled her to order all the first year students to write their names and signed against it.

She added that those at college?s account department were asked to produce a list of all students who had paid their fees with receipt, but due to the delay in submitting the names, she collected a bank statement on September 8, 2014 and detected some names which were not on the main admission list posted on the notice board.

The Principal said she called an emergency and tutorial meeting and the issue of admission malpractice was put before them on September 10, 2014 where it was concluded that those students should go back home.

Madam Inkoom revealed that on September 11, 2014, management went to the first year?s class and suggested to the victims to leave the college by the close of that day but eight of the victims refused to go, a situation which compelled the management to call for their arrest.

She said during interrogation, the victims mentioned some of the staff members as well as a doctor at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) as the brain behind the malpractice.

The suspects are being investigated by the Regional Police Command.

Meanwhile, the victims have dragged the college to court.
