In order to restore sanity in the execution of contracts awarded by government, Kogi Universal Basic Education, (UBE) has blacklisted non performing contractors.

The Chairman of the Board, Usman Jibril Muhammed, who stated this today while briefing journalists in his office, said contractors who failed to meet deadlines and specifications, would no longer be patronized by his agency.

He also said that the Board was resolutely committed to putting an end to the issue of ghost workers and ghost schools in the state, noting that the fight against corruption in whatever form was achievable if the will and determination was there.
Muhammed while frowning at the recent report of the discovery of 800 ghost schools as alleged by the Accountant General of the state, however admitted that there were ghost schools and teachers in some parts of the state.

“Yes there are ghost schools and teachers in the state, but it certainly can not be as high as 800 as being reported. I have seen the report and the attachments, there were no specific figures attached to it” he stressed.

Muhammed noted that since his assumption of office, he has put mechanism in place to check leakages and corruption, particularly non execution of contract awards.
