Suspect Eric Awuku
A 25-year-old mechanic, Eric Awuku also called Yao Torgbui, who allegedly defiled a two-year-old girl, is in the grip of the police.
The suspect, residing at Fante New Town near Deboase in the Western Region was arrested by members of the farming community and handed over to the police.
ASP Olivia Kwabena Adiku, Western Regional Police PRO disclosed this to DAILY GUIDE in an interview.
According to the Regional Police PRO, on December 30, 2013 at about 2:00am one Felicia Aidoo also of Fante New Town, Daboase was sleeping in the room with her two-year-old daughter.
The suspect, who stayed around, sneaked into Felicia?s room and took the victim to a nearby bush and defiled her.
ASP Adiku mentioned that the cry of the victim attracted the mother and other neighbours to the scene and Eric took to his heels.
He was given a hot chase by some members of the community and was apprehended and handed over to the police.
According to the regional police PRO, the victim was on admission at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital, and that the suspect would soon be put before court.
